Jet Fuel Tank Farm Terminal

Through NPL Canada’s industrial construction division, W.S. Nicholls Construction, NPL Canada is constructing a new jet fuel tank farm terminal at the Pearson International Airport in Toronto. This extensive project includes mechanical, electrical, piping, equipment installation, instrumentation, boilermaker, ironwork and civil trade work to complete the following:

  • Supply and install four jet fuel storage tanks, holding 10.7 million litres.
  • Construct additional support tanks and interconnecting piping systems for fuel recovery, waste fuel and water and oil water separators.
  • Complete electrical installations and five distribution support buildings for operations and equipment storage.

The fuel facility at Pearson is the largest airport jet fuel facility in Canada, with more than two billion litres of jet fuel flowing through the system annually. When complete, this project will support the existing bulk jet fuel storage capacity and the overall jet fuel infrastructure expansion.

Burlington Oakville Pipeline Project

To secure continued, reliable transportation of natural gas for the communities of Milton, Oakville and Burlington (Ontario), NPL Canada will construct an almost 12 kilometer, 20-inch diameter pipeline and upgrade a related pressure station facility, Bronte Gate Station. The pipeline connects the existing Dawn-Parkway transmission pipeline to the Burlington-Oakville distribution network, strengthening the system and ensuring a secure connection to abundant natural gas reserves.

Construction includes a mix of both open-trench and trenchless (jack and bore/horizontal directional drill) installations that traverse multiple water and road crossings, including the crossing of a major highway. NPL Canada will tie-in to the Parkway Compressor Station and construct a valve nest. The project will also include construction and installation of a new measurement and odourant station at the Parkway West Site, along with all the main pipeline between sites within the Parkway West Site.
